Auditions

Audition
Auditions will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Altus High School.
Entry fees are $10.00 person and $5.00 for every secondary or additional instrument per person.
General Info
All directors that enter students for audition must be present to help with auditions. Parking will be in the lot between the football stadium and the high school. The directors meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. in the band room. Please be ready to start the meeting on time as tryouts are to begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. The main high school complex and the music building will be used for audition rooms. The auditorium and band room will be used for the warm-up area. Please, no playing in the halls. I have also enclosed a list of your students which we have entered from your school. Please call and let me know immediately if there are mistakes or if corrections need to be made.
Auditions
  1. All students auditioning must go to their audition room to pick up their audition card. They will need that card to audition. (The monitors will be at the doors by 9:00.)
  2. Students are not to talk in the room. The monitors will be the mediators between the judges and the audition personnel.
  3. Directors will be seated behind the screens with their backs turned while students are auditioning. All directors will need to be judging or assisting in the audition
  4. Please stress to your students to report to their audition rooms early so that the tryout procedure may run smoother. If you have any questions or corrections in audition personnel, my phone number is (580) 481-2126.
  5. Please note the OMEA sight reading rooms and times. If you have a student sight reading for OMEA they must sign up and audition at the times listed. If they don’t sight read they will not be advanced to the next round. They will be sight reading in a different room and time than they play their etudes. Please let them be aware of this. It is probably a different procedure for most all of our students.
  6. All scales will be played by memory.
RESULTS
Results will be posted in the cafeteria area for the students and in Rm C 1 for the directors. This is the 1st class room by the cafeteria.
CHECK-OUT
Be sure to pick up your music for all your students who are selected (Work Room).
